Testing for carbonate and sulfate ions Flashcards

1
Q

How do we test for carbonate ions?

= adding dilute nitric acid
= effersecence should be seen
= test the gas with lime-water if it turns cloudy it is co2, carbonate is present continye until no gas is produced
