- take with food: helps with the irritation

- Naproxen sodium
- just for (moderate) pain
- faster peak than naproxen base

- Naprosyn not for initial treatment of acute pain
- 250 - 500 mg bid

- always take with food or after meals
- IV formulation used for treatment of Patent ductus arteriosis
- 25 - 50 mg bid-tid

- half life = 50 hours

- just for arthrtitis (osteoarthritis)
- affects Cox2 more than Cox1 = less GI problems

- diclofenac sodium
- arthritis (strong and potent)
- strong: can cause some GI problems
- Ophthalmic formulation: post-op opthalmic inflammation
- Oral: 50mg tid-qid; XR: 100-200mg/d

- prodrug (problem for pts with liver disease)
- 150 mg bid

- etodolac
- affects Cox2 more than Cox1 = less GI problems
- IR = acute pain; XL = chronic pain
