Soc21- Planes And Axes Of Movements Flashcards
What is the Sagittal plane?
The Sagittal plane divides the body from top to bottom,(vertically),resulting in a left and right side-flexion and extension
What is the Frontal plane?
The Frontal Plane also divides the body from top to bottom(vertically), but front and back sections-adduction and abduction
What is The Transverse Plane?
The Transverse plane divides the body across the middle(horizontally),giving a top section and a bottom section-rotation
What is the Frontal axis?
The Frontal axis runs from side to side, formed by the intersection of the frontal and transverse planes-allows flexion and extension
What is the Sagittal axis?
The Sagittal axis runs from side to side, formed by the intersection of the Sagittal and transverse planes-allows abduction and adduction
What is the vertical axis?
The Vertical axis runs from top to bottom, formed by the intersection of the sagittal and frontal plane-allows rotation of body in upright position
What does a Front somersault use?
Sagittal Plane(flex and ext)=Front Axis(flex and ext)-Front Somersault
What does a cartwheel use?
Frontal Plane(abd and add)= Sagittal Axis(abd and add)- Cartwheel
What does a trampoline use?
Transverse Plane(rotation)=Vertical Axis(rotation)- Trampoline twist
