To pump blood around the body
2nd function of the cardiac respiratory system:
To clot open wounds
3rd function of the cardiac respiratory system:
To control body temperature
What are the 4 main areas in the heart?
Left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle and right ventricle
What are the 4 blood vessels in the heart?
Aorta, vena cava, pulmonary vein and pulmonary artery
3 blood vessels?
Capillaries,veins,arteries
Valves in the heart
Triscupid valve and biscupid valve
How does the heart pump blood?
Deoxygenated blood enters the right atrium and passes through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. The right ventricle pumps the blood through the pulmonary artery towards the lungs where it gets oxygenated. The oxygenated blood comes back to the heart by the pulmonary veins which enters the left atrium through bicuspid valve and into the left ventricle. The left ventricle pumps the blood to the aorta which will distribute the oxygenated blood to all parts of the body.
What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure is a measure of the force that your heart uses to pump the blood round your body. Some experts say that blood pressure is the most important aspect of fitness, important factor in participation and performance. Top number is systolic blood, bottom number is diastolic blood pressure.
