Soc 5: Principles Of Tra8ning Flashcards
Specificity
The particular requirements of an activity
Progressive overload
Gradually increasing the amount of overload so as to gain fitness without the risk of injury
Individual needs
Matching training to the requirements of an individual.
FITT
▪ Frequency (how often)
▪ Intensity (how hard)
▪ Time (how long)
▪ Type (method)
Frequency
also overlaps with rest and recovery. For example, training every other day would allow a rest to for the body to recover on the days between training.
Intensity
mean how hard someone trains. Intensity may vary depending on the aims and type of training. For example, intensity for a runner would mean raising your heart rate in the target zone
Time
Professionals will train for much longer to reach their required levels of fitness. Marathon runner are likely to spend over two hours running in one session
Type
Training should be chosen according to what needs to be improved and what the end goal is. For example, sprinters training specifically to improve their speed
