Slow release of energy found in bananas, wholemeal bread and pasta
What do simple carbohydrates do
They are a fast release of energy so its best eaten just before a game. Some include fruit and veg, buiscuits,cakes,chocolate and confectionary

Fats provide energy and together with glycogen they help the muscles work.

Why are proteins important
Proteins are important to help build/growmuscles and to repair damages tissue. Proteins are particulary important to strength atheletes: shot putters, rugby players and weight lifters

Essential for a healthy body and to prevent certain diseases

Micronutrients are the parts of your food that you need for normal growth, but only in small amounts. What we usually call vitamins and minerals

Helps the release of energy and repairs tissue
What does vitamin c do
Helps protect the body from infections, heals wounds and helps absorb minerals
