Soc 17 - Structure Of The Respiratory System Flashcards
What makes up the respiratory system?
The respiratory system includes the nose , mouth , throat , voice box , windpipe and lungs and vessels
What is an imediate effect of exercise on the respiratory system?
You have a higher breathing rate to gain more oxegen to remove lactic acid from the muscles and a higher tidal volume so you gain more oxegen per breath
What are the percentages of inspiration: breathing in
20% oxegen 0.4% carbon dioxide
What are the percentages of Exhalation: breathing out
16% oxegen+ 4% carbon dioxide
Define vital capacity
The greatest amount of air that can be passed Into and out of the lungs by most forceful inspiration and expiration
Define Tidal volume
The amount of air inspired and expired with each breath
What is oxegen dept?
The amount of oxegen needed at the end of a physical activity to break down lactic acid
What is the VO2 max
The volume of oxegen an athelete can consume while exercising at yhe maximum capacity
Define vital capacity (again)
The maximum amount of air you can forcibly breathe in and out per breath
