Sagittal plane
Divides the body from left to right - flexion and extension
Frontal plane
Divides the body from front to back - abduction adduction
Tranverse plane
divides the body across the middle (horizontally),
giving a top section (also known as ‘superior’) and a bottom section (‘inferior) - rotation
Frontal axis
runs from side to side - this allows flexion and extension)
Saggital axis
runs from front to back - allows abduction and adduction)
Vertical axis
runs from top to bottom, - allows rotation of the body in an upright position)
- Front Somersault
Saggital Plane (flex and ext) = Frontal Axis (flex and ext)
Cartwheel
Frontal Plane (abd and add) = Saggital Axis (abd and add)
Trampoline twist
Transverse Plane (rotation) = Vertical Axis (rotation)
