What is an artery?
A muscular tube that carries blood away from the heart.

A tube that carries blood back to the heart.

What is vascular shunting?
A process that increases blood flow to active areas during exercise by diverting blood away from inactive areas; achieved by vasodilation and vasoconstriction.
What is the immune system?
The structures and processes in your body that stop diseases.
What is Thrombokinase?
The substance involved in blood clotting.
What is serotonin?
A hormone that triggers the clotting process
What is plasma?
The fluid part of the blood
What is an erythrocyte?
A red blood cell
What is haemoglobin?
A red protein in the blood which transports oxygen
What is anaemia?
A condition where there is a lack of red blood cells or haemoglobin in the blood
What is a leukocyte?
A white blood cell
What is a pathogen
An agent that causes disease such as a virus.
What is an antibody?
A chemical that destroys pathogens
