Genital Warts
caused by human papillomavirus (HPV)
- most transmitted STI
- direct link to cervical cancer in women

- painless warts around genitals or rectum
- pink or red, soft, often in clusters

- chemical removal
- cryotherapy removal
- chemical current removal
- surgical removal

Syphilis
infected sore that forms at the site of contact with an infected person
- most commonly on mouth or external genitalia
Syphilis S&S
- painless single ulcer or cluster of ulcers that exude a clear pus
- Skin rash: primarily occur on palms or plantar aspect of feet but can occur on any portion of the body or mucosal membrane
Syphilis Treatment
penicillin
- single injection can cure syphilis if given in the first year
- if allergic to penicillin can take erythromycin or tetracyclin
