twisting of the spermatic cord caused by:
- direct trauma
- exercise
- sexual intercourse

- sudden sever pain in one teste
-scrotal swelling - abdominal pain
- nausea and vomiting

Immediate referral (must be treated w/in 6 hrs)

at physician discretion
Hydrocele
fluid-filled sac along the spermatic cord causing scrotal inflammation
Hydrocele S&S
- pain
- swollen testicles

- rule out inguinal hernia
- aspiration
- surgery

Varicocele
enlargement of the veins in the scrotum
Varicocele S&S
- non-tender twisted mass
- atrophy of testicle
- 80-90% occur to the left teste
Varicocele Treatment
- if asymptomatic noting needed
- surgery

- 2-6 weeks
- wear a cup

- blunt force trauma
- straddle injuries
- sexual intercourse

- impaired genitourinary function
- sexual dysfunction

- referral if deformity, ecchymosis, or persistent pain
- cryotherapy
- NSAIDs
