- Jails may over represent this!
Sexual related problems with child molesters may emerge in ____ for some offenders but the trajectories show a ___ distribution.
- adolescence
- bimodal
-There is usually a peak in sexual offending in ___ and another in mid to late __’s. (bimodal)
- adolescence
- 30’s(not necessarily the same people, they could just be separate onsets…)

Finkelhor’s Theory for the preconditions for Child Molestation: Explain!
- Motivated to sexual abuse via? (3)
- Internal inhibitions are reduced
- Must overcome external inhibitors
- Must overcome the child’s resistance
- Desire for child to satisfy one’s emotional needs
- sexual attraction to the child
- blockage of other outlets for meeting one’s needs. - substance abuse, impulse control issues, aka anything that lowers inhibition to commit the crime.
- Create situations they will see the child for the offence to happen
- Grooming: incentives, attention, threats etc can include watching porn as well! The more the child is okay with the offender, the more the offender will escalate.
Groth’s Child Molester Typology can be broken down into what two groups?
A. Fixated Child Molesters
B. Regressed Child molesters
Groth’s Child Molester Typology (explain):
A. Fixated Child Molesters
B. Regressed Child molesters
A. Sexual attraction to children, little to none with adults. Onset= teens and is persistent. Tend to offend against boys(mostly via male offenders). They are driven by sexual behaviours…they are planned well.
B. Sexual attracted to adults but have offended against children. These offenders are more likely to offend against females. This group is triggered via stressors (loss of job etc) and alcohol and substance abuse.
Groth’s Child Molester Typology is broken down even further from the Fixated and Regressed child molesters to what two categories?
- Sex-pressured child molesters
2. Sex- force child molesters
Groth`s Child Molester typology, Explain the subtypes:
- Sex-pressured child molesters
- Sex-force child molesters
- coercion via gifts, treats, special activities
- coercion via physical force of the exploitative type or of the rare sadistic type.
A.Sadistic Type: Gratification from harming children, physically- not common
B. Exploitative Type: threats not actually causing harm
