Sensory spinal cord lesion Flashcards
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Mono Neuropathy results in ?
Loss of sensations in area suppleid by the nerve
loss of motor functions voulntary and reflexes of muscles supplied by the nerve
Causes of polye neruropathy
Gentetic
Acquired:
3T Trauma toxins tumor
2A Autoimmune Alcoholism
2V VASCULAR - Vitamin deficiency
DM
Effects of Poly neuropathy _peripheral Neuirtis
Sensory
Parathesia : Numbness - Tingling
Hypothesisa
Anathesia
Gloves and stocking pattern of sensory loss
_____________________
Motor LMNL leads to
Paresis
Parlaysis
Areflexia
Atrophy
Explain Syringomyelia
It is a cyst or glial tissue proliferation in spinal cord casuing widening of Central canal
Site :Cervico -Thoracic segments
_________________________________
This leads to cut spinothalamic sensations in both sides as pain and temperature without crude touch as its tramnistted partially in Dorsal column tract and distrubted as sensory jacket distriubtion
Disscoiated sensory loss: loss of sensation of spinothalmuc tracts
____________________________________________
Severe cases
Also sensory loss
Motor loss :- UMNL AND LMNL AHCs
Automnimuc Inclusion ! lateral horn cells damaged- horners syndrome
_______________________________
In more severe cases (SyringoBulbia) involving brainstem
Cranial nerve nuceli damaged= facial palsy +snesory and motor defects
______________________________________
site of syringomyelia
Site :Cervico -Thoracic segments
Jacket disrbution of sensory loss in ?
SyringoMyelia
Explain Tapes Dorsalis
It is Neurosyphilis in spinal cord
site lumbsacral segments’
Early phase in inflammation and irritation of pain fibers causing attack of pain in L.L
Late phase with syphilitic gamma causing compression and destruction of the nerves
__________________________________
Loss of dorsal column tract sensation :
Vibration the first
Slow pain the last
Loss of proprioceptive sensations casuing :-
1-Ataxia : incoordinatio OF voluntary muscle movments in absence of Paralysis
2- +Romberg’s sign when he is erect closing eyes falling down
3- Stamping sign looking at leg which is lifted up
_____________________________________________Motor: deafferentiation of Reflexes:
Hypotonia atonia – hyporefelxia -areflexia
_____________________________________
May reach brain stem casuing loss of pupillary light reflex but the pupil it self can also repsonds to oter reflexes as Argyl Robertson Reflex
site of Tapes dorsalis ?
lUMBO SACRAL
Brown Sequard disease explain
Causes bullet or accident
____________________
at the level of the lesion :
Loss of all sensations
LMNL and flaccid paralysis and areflexia
__________________________-
Below the level of lesion
same side:
loss of dorsal column tract snesations
UMNL With spastic paralysis and hyper reflexia
Other side :
Loss of spinothalamic crossing sensations
Motor{_–
to be continued
