The presentation of a highly desired object and “what do you want”
Antecedent strategies for self management
Provide SDs for the desired behavior where SDs and EOs for the undesirable behavior tend to appear
Necessary components of self management
Making a commitment-a personal declaration, contingencies, ecological changes
Examining self-management data
May reinforce the appropriate behavior, an examination of the antecedents and consequences may provide information on a function, also holding oneself accountable to others has been shown to be effective
Punitive consequences in a self-management program should
Be mild bc they are more likely to be administered consistently, individuals can (and should) deliver their own consequences, sometimes punishment is in the form of loss of reinforcement
