Measurement Flashcards
Criteria for defining a behavior
Objectivity, clarity, and completeness
Rate is
The only measure of proficiency. Proficient responding is both accurate and rapid
A functional definition of behavior
It’s outcome
Partial interval procedure is best suited for
Behaviors that are too rapid to count
Use frequency when
Discrete behaviors, definite beginning and end
Duration
Use with behaviors that vary in duration or when length of time that the behavior occurs is important
Use latency when
When time from onset of a stimulus and the response is important
Use interval recording when
Frequency is too high to count every occurrence, responses are not discrete, or behaviors vary in duration
The lowest accepted number of opportunities upon which to base percent
20
Use percent of occurrences
When the discriminative operant shave a limited time to occur
Reactivity
The presence of an observer influences behavior
Observer drift
Over time observs modify operational definitions
Complexity
Complex data collection systems are prone to unreliable data collection
Expectancy
Bias due to preconceived notions and information given
