duration:
xylazine< detomidine = romifidine < dexmedetomidine
side effects alpha 2 agonists
vasoconstriction, BP doesnt equal flow (hypoperfusion)
takes blood away from other systems, all the blood is going to heart and brain
dexmedetomidine blocks
insulin receptor, psuedo hyperglycemia
Antipamazole
don’t give IV because dex vasoconstricts
reverses all the alpha 2s
yohimbine reverses
only xylazine
side affects of a2 reversals is
vasodilation
Acepromazine
- high protein bound!
- worst side effect is liver failure
benzodiazepines
diazepam, midazolam, zolazepam
which are lipid soluble
midazolam and zolazepam are liposoluble
diazepam is hydrosoluble
diazepam
give IV only
