What are adventitious roots? + examples
support plant’s stem ex: banyan trees
What is root caps?
protects the root tissues as the root grows
What does the root caps produce?
a slimy substance that allows the roots to grow easily through the soil
What are root hairs?
extensions of epidermis cells, they increase the surface area of the roots allowing more minerals to be absorbed
What is cortex?
layer below the epidermal layer, involved in transportation of plant substances, in between the epidermis and vascular tissues
