Jewish attitudes to restorative justice
+SOWAA
Jews are in favour of restorative justice because it is the only way of bringing peace and reconciliation between the criminal and the victim and that is what the Tenakh, Talmud and Mishneh encourage.
Restorative justice is helping the criminal to follow the advice of the Psalms and the Prophets:
“Turn from evil and do good”
“bring justice to the fatherless”
