D/B CAUSE / EFFECT: COMMUNICATION DIFFICULTIES ON WHICH THE D/B THEORY IS BASED UPON ARE AN AFFECT > CAUSE OF SCHIZ
Where do d/b communications come from?
Research Support for Expressed Emotion
Schizophrenia: Social - Dysfunctional Families A03:
Double bind cause & effect
Studies have found a difference in quality of communication within families with schizophrenic members: Liem - Communications offered in a structured task to the parents of 11 schiz sons were no more disordered than communications offered by those with non-schiz sons.
Schizophrenia: Social - Dysfunctional Families A03:
Where do double bind communications come from?
Koopmans - Incidental variations in family interactions (which normally have little effect) at times of family disruption lead to double bind communication 🙂 Explains how d/b communications can be established / 😟 No empirical evidence
Schizophrenia: Social - Dysfunctional Families A03:
Research Support for Expressed Emotions
Vaughn & Leff - 53% of schiz inds who had a high EE relative relapsed within 9 months / 12% of those who had a low EE relative relapsed
