the process by which substances move down a concentration gradient, from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.

Where does diffusion happen?
A
in living systems.

Active transport?
A
the process by which dissolved molecules move across a cell membrane from a lower to a higher concentration. Particles move against the concentration gradient, therefore require an input of energy from the cell.

Osmosis?
A
the overall movement of water molecules, from a region where there are more of them in a particular volume to a region where there are fewer, through a semi-permeable membrane.
