DEFENCE
One reserved power the UK Parliament has is the power of defence. Here, the UK Parliament makes decisions related to the army, the military and the navy.
For example, in 2015 the UK Parliament voted on whether to carry out airstrikes in Syria. 397 MPs voted in favour.
Immigration
Another reserved power the UK Parliament has is the power to make decisions on immigration. Here, the UK Parliament makes decisions related to immigrants and asylum seekers and their right to stay in the country. They also decide how many immigrants/asylum seekers are allowed into the UK.
For example, in 2022 Priti Patel announced a new Asylum plan where asylum seekers from the UK would be sent to Rwanda
Benefits
Another reserved power the UK Parliament has is power to make decisions on certain benefits. Here, the UK Parliament makes decisions related to the welfare state and how to help citizens in poverty and deprivation
For example, the UK Parliament has the ability to make decisions on Universal Credit and Pensions.
