Critics of Police Scotland also claim that stop and search has been used more frequently against Black people than white. This has lead to concern over racial prejudice and unfair targeting.

For example, it is estimated that Black people are being targeted up to 5 times the rate than other ethnicities in some parts of Scotland.

The severe lack of funding in Police Scotland has led to a lack of resources. Numerous cuts has led to a significant drop in officers on the ground being able to actively prevent and deter crime. This makes police Scotland less efficient.

For example, it has emerged that a funding gap of £200 million would exist by the year 2020/21.
