Temporary Assistance For Needy Families
TANF funds help needy families by providing a grant (money that doesn’t need to be paid back). This money can help people pay towards childcare, transportation and medical supplies. This will encourage people to find work and stay in work as TANF helps remove certain barriers. By removing financial worries/barriers people are able to gain employment.
For example, in 2019 around 437,000 adults in the US received TANF cash assistance.
Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)
Introduced to increase the affordability of health insurance, lower the number of uninsured Americans and reduce the cost of healthcare. The law also requires insurance companies to offer the same insurance rates regardless of pre-existing conditions or gender. The overall aim was to make quality healthcare more accessible to all.
For example, according to studies 31 million Americans had health care coverage through the ACA
(Obamacare) in 2021
