Fell out over Payne-Aldrich Act as it did very little to lower tariffs. Roosevelt believed Taft should have done more to lower tariffs but Taft disagreed causing the Republican Party to split. Roosevelt created the bull moose party and Taft remained with the more traditional republicans, causing Wilson to be elected in 1912
