pt is turned 1/4 from prone on the left side w the bed horizontal and the head and shoulders raised on a pillow. Percussion and vibration are performed around the medial border of the right scapula.
Posterior segment right upper lobe
Pt sitting leaning back 30-40 degrees. Percussion and vibration are performed above the clavicles
Apical segments right and left upper lobes
pt is turned 1/4 from prone on the R side with the head of the bed elevated 45 deg and the head and shoulders raised on a pillow. Percussion and vibration are performed around the medial border of the L scapula
Posterior segment L upper lobe
pt is turned 1/4 from supine on the R side with the foot of the bed elevated 12 inches. Percussion and vibration are performed over the L chest between the axilla and the L nipple
Lingula L upper lobe
pt is in supine w the bed horizontal. Percussion and vibration are performed below the clavicles.
Anterior segments R and L upper lobes
pt is turned 1/4 from supine on the L side with the foot of the bed elevated 12 inches. Percussion and vibration are performed over the R chest between the axilla and the R nipple
R middle lobe
pt is prone w the bed horizontal. Percussion and vibration are performed below the inferior border of the L and R scapulae
Superior segments L and R lower lobes
pt is in supine w the foot of the bed elevated 18 inches. Percussion and vibration are performed over the lower ribs on the L and R side
Anterior basal segments L and R lower lobes
Pt is in prone w the foot of the bed elevated 18 inches. Percussion and vibration are performed over the lower ribs on the L and R side of the chest
Posterior basal segments L and R lower lobes
pt is in sidelying w the foot of the bed elevated 18 inches. Percussion and vibration performed over the lower ribs. The image shows the position for the lateral segment of the L lower lobe with the pt lying on the R side. For the lateral segment of the R lower love, the pt lies on the L side
