What are the types of polycystic kidney disease?
Autosomal dominant- most common cause of inherited kidney disease
Autosomal recessive- underdeveloped kidneys, not associated w long lifespan

HAematuria Recurrent UTIs Abdo pain REnal stones Hypertension Enlarged kidneys CKD Extra-renal
What are the extra-renal manifestations of polycystic kidney disease?
Liver cysts
Cysts in other organs
CV disease
Berry aneurysm- often causing subarachnoid haemorrhage
What screening is done for polycystic kidney disease?
Abdo US
What bloods should be done for polyctsic kidney disease?
FBC, U&E, proteins
Anaemia and uraemia
What is the preferred imaging for polyctsic kidneys?
Abdo CT
What is the diagnostic criteria for polyctsic kidney disease?
FH and
-<30= 2 cysts, unilateral or bilateral
-30-59= 2 cysts on both kidneys
.>60= 4 cysts on both kidneys
What is the management of polyctsic kidneys?
Dialysis/kidney transplant
Autosomal dominant- tolvaptan
