Planes And Boundaries L1 Flashcards
What is regional and systemic anatomy
Regional is looking at large parts of the bofy
Systemic is looking at how organs work together
What defines the thorax
Superior is the clavicle
Inferior is the diaphragm
What defines the abdomen
Diaphragm to the inguinal ligament
What separates the abdomen from pelvis/perineum
Nothing
Expain the anatomical position
Facing forward
Upright
Feet forward and togerher
Palms forward (back of hand is posterior)
Name the 4 anatomical planes
Medial (all vertical)
Saggital
Coronal
Transverse (longitudinal)
What is the difference between medial planes of body or feet ans saggital plane
Medial plane is bertical cut to make equal left and right sides. Saggital forms unequal left and right
Explain the coronal plane
Divides the front and back of the body and doesnt hve to be equal
It is at right angles to medial
Explain the transverse plane
Cuts body into upper and lower. At righr angles to both medial and coronal
Only one thats longitudinal
What is superior and inferior using example
Superior is closer to head
Inferior is closer to foot
Stomach is inferior to the heart
What is anterior and posterior and give example
Anterior is close to front of body
Posterior is close to the back of the body
The sternum breast bone is anterior to the heart
What is medial and lateral with example
Medial is closer to median plane
Lateral is further
In anatomical position the pinky is medial to the thumb
What is proximal and distal
Proximal is closer to the point of origin/trunk eg the shoulder scapula
The wrist bone/ carpel is distal to the humerus elbow
What is it called when something is closer to the surfsce eg the muscle compared to bone
Superficial instead of deep
What is the back/dorsal part of hand or foot called
Dorsum
