Q

How can LOC/LOR be assessed in an animal?

A

To confirm LOC in an animal, talk to the animal first. If the animal does not respond to verbal stimuli, attempt to arouse the animal by gently touching it or rubbing the area around the eyes and observing for lash reflex. Animals that only respond to painful stimuli or no response at all, should be immediately evaluated for airway latency and breathing.
