Q

What is the rule regarding planning for reverse thrust on landing?

A

Must use full, unless.
Dry runway
Wet runway do a medium-poor calculation with no reverse credit and no 1.15 factor.

Q

When do they report DAMP Runway?

A

Not now, a damp runway will be reported as wet. This will be a wet runway that is not shiney.

7
Q

Is Thrust Reverser credit given for Wet Runways?

A

Yes, although it will never give a weight higher than the equivalent wet runway.
Also same for Contaminated Runway.

Q

What would you do if there is a runway noted as Slippery When Wet?

A

Use Slippery Wet in Take-off module.
Or
During Landing use Medium from RCAM.

14
Q

If ATIS/SNOWTAM says that the runway has been DOWNGRADED, what do you do?

A

FCOM has a list of what to do. You can only Downgrade for a hard/fluid-contaminated runway with a 3mm or less depth.

16
Q

If FlySmart gives you CONF 2/3 on a long non-limiting runway (such as 08R LGW), what should you do?

A

Stick with the higher flap setting as it will provide better engine life.

17
Q

What is REC MAX altitude?

A

Maximum CRZ Thrust in level flight
300fpm ROC at Maximum CLB Thrust
Maximum Certified Altitude
1.3g buffet limited altitude.

18
Q

What is the factor from ILD and FILD?

A

1.15

19
Q

What is the assumption made with Thrust Reversers for an ILD?

A

Max Reverse Thrust down to 70kts then Idle Reverse to full stop.

20
Q

What does Airbus recommend to do with reverse thrust on a Wet/Comtaminated runway?

A

Use Max, otherwise do an IFLD with MEDIUM POOR to check that ok to use Idle.

21
Q

Can the Factored LD exceed the Landing distance available? To avoid using a higher Autobrake than really required.

A

Yes for RWYCC 5/6 as long as the unfactored distance is within the LDA AND
Max Manual Factored IFLD is within LDA

22
Q

What is the basic procedure when using the RCAM?

A

Conduct a Primary Assessment based on data from the Snowtam. Then downgrade if required by D-ATIS or Snowtam RWYCC.

23
Q

Can you upgrade a RWYCC that was determined from the Primary Assessment?

A

Yes, Only done by the airport.
Only for Landing as well.
Maximum Upgrade is to RWYCC 3

24
Q

What do you do if an airport reports a runway friction coefficient?

A

We can disregard technically as there is no means of correlating with RCAM. Look for a surface condition report.

25
Q

What are the downsides of doing an AIREP for braking action?

A

Use of Reverse can hide the braking effectiveness. Use the BACF from the MCDU if installed.

26
Q

What is the recommendation for take-off with tailwind on a contaminated runway?

A

Not recommended above 5kts.
