Performance Flashcards
What do you not have to check on the PPD, for some reason??
ACCEL/THR RED Altitudes. For some reason you dont need to do this.
What is the rule regarding planning for reverse thrust on landing?
Must use full, unless.
Dry runway
Wet runway do a medium-poor calculation with no reverse credit and no 1.15 factor.
If calm wind is reported what do you enter in FlySmart?
Tailwind 3 kts. OMB
Is there a maximum certified headwind?
No, the performance module will only go up to 40kts
When do they report DAMP Runway?
Not now, a damp runway will be reported as wet. This will be a wet runway that is not shiney.
What is the maximum depth of water on a Wet Runway?
Up to and including 3mm
Is Thrust Reverser credit given for Wet Runways?
Yes, although it will never give a weight higher than the equivalent wet runway.
Also same for Contaminated Runway.
What would you do if there is a runway noted as Slippery When Wet?
Use Slippery Wet in Take-off module.
Or
During Landing use Medium from RCAM.
When is a runway considered Contaminated
When a layer of fluid contaminant is assessed as not THIN
OR
When there is a Hard Contaminant
When is a Fluid Contaminated not THIN?
More than 3mm
What is a Hard Contaminant?
Compacted Snow
Ice
Wet-Ice
What is Frost equivalent to?
Wet, unless there is an RWYCC given lower than 5.
Can you dispatch to/from a runway with Wet Ice?
No
If ATIS/SNOWTAM says that the runway has been DOWNGRADED, what do you do?
FCOM has a list of what to do. You can only Downgrade for a hard/fluid-contaminated runway with a 3mm or less depth.
On a rough or badly paved runway what flap setting should you chose if you can?
CONF 2/3
If FlySmart gives you CONF 2/3 on a long non-limiting runway (such as 08R LGW), what should you do?
Stick with the higher flap setting as it will provide better engine life.
What is REC MAX altitude?
Maximum CRZ Thrust in level flight
300fpm ROC at Maximum CLB Thrust
Maximum Certified Altitude
1.3g buffet limited altitude.
What is the factor from ILD and FILD?
1.15
What is the assumption made with Thrust Reversers for an ILD?
Max Reverse Thrust down to 70kts then Idle Reverse to full stop.
What does Airbus recommend to do with reverse thrust on a Wet/Comtaminated runway?
Use Max, otherwise do an IFLD with MEDIUM POOR to check that ok to use Idle.
Can the Factored LD exceed the Landing distance available? To avoid using a higher Autobrake than really required.
Yes for RWYCC 5/6 as long as the unfactored distance is within the LDA AND
Max Manual Factored IFLD is within LDA
What is the basic procedure when using the RCAM?
Conduct a Primary Assessment based on data from the Snowtam. Then downgrade if required by D-ATIS or Snowtam RWYCC.
Can you upgrade a RWYCC that was determined from the Primary Assessment?
Yes, Only done by the airport.
Only for Landing as well.
Maximum Upgrade is to RWYCC 3
What do you do if an airport reports a runway friction coefficient?
We can disregard technically as there is no means of correlating with RCAM. Look for a surface condition report.
What are the downsides of doing an AIREP for braking action?
Use of Reverse can hide the braking effectiveness. Use the BACF from the MCDU if installed.
What is the recommendation for take-off with tailwind on a contaminated runway?
Not recommended above 5kts.
