Q

ureter

A

this is the tube that carries urine down to the bladder

  • the renal pelvis dumps into this
  • these enter the inferor posterior aspec of the bladder at an angle

Q

renel pelvis

A

this is what the major calices dump into

- it is thicker and is seen in the hilum and then turns into the ureter

Q

renal artery

A
  • this is lateral to the superior mesenteric artery and connects to the kidney
  • and this branches off of the descending aorta

A

these exit through the hilum and connects with the inferior vena cava
- it appears thin and floppy

Q

inferior mesenteric artery

A

this is located further down on the descending aorta

-this one is smaller than the superior one

Q

bladder

A
  • some photos show this having some brown stuff in the middle
  • it is going to be inferior to the uterus in the female
  • it is going to be superior to the prostate in the male

Q

urethra

A

(in the male)
the tube that carries urine from the bladder out through the penis
- the first portion is called the prostatic uretha which is closest to the bladder
-this portion is going through the prostate
-the second portion is the membranous urethra and that runs from the pelvic floor to the tip of the penis
(in the female)
- positioned anterior to the vagina
- it is much shorter in females than males because it doesn’t go through the penis

Q

spongy urethra

A

this is the portion of the urethra that runs through the center of the penis
-through the bulb and corpus spongiosum

18
Q

descending aorta

A
  • located medially
  • this has the celiac trunk branching off of it
  • it has the superior and inferior mesenteric arteries
  • it is lateral (and slightly anterior) to the inferior vena cava
  • it will be branch into two at the bottom
19
Q

inferior vena cava

A
  • runs lateral on the right side (persons right not my right) to the decending aorta
  • the renal veins enter on it
  • will look more collapsed than the decending aorta
20
Q

aortic arch

A

this is what branches right out of the heart and then divides into the ascending and descending aorta

21
Q

ascending aorta

A

this is the portion that moves superiorly to feed the upper extremites and head

22
Q

celiac trunk

A
  • branches off the anterior side of the abdominal aorta in the thorax
  • It gives off three major branches called left gastric, common hepatic and splenic arteries.
  • it is the second branch on the descending aorta
23
Q

vesticouterine pouch

A
  • between the uterus and the bladder
  • can be seen in the saggital cross-sectional images
  • it is just a pelvic space
24
Q

rectouterine pouch

A

between the uterus and the rectum

- it is just a pelvic space

25
ovaries
- there are two of them and they are small - located bilateral to the uterus - right next to the fimbrae of the uterine tube
26
uterine tube
- these carry the egg to the uterus - have the fimbrae - two of them bilateral to the uterus
27
uterus
a muscle that sits clamped in the body - thick and muscular - superior to the cervix - sits superior to the bladder at an angle
28
vagina
this is located infererior to the uterus and is right after the cervix portion - it has the tube structure coming off of it - the external vaginal opening is located more posterior
29
labia majora
the outter flabs of the labia surrounding the female external genetalia -these can grow hair on them
30
labia minora
- just inside the labia majora are these flaps/regions | - these cannot grow hair
31
clitoris
this sits most anteriorly of the outside genetalia | -is covered by the prepuse (this is a hood over it and is similar to the foreskin of the male)
32
spermatic cord
- connects the testicles to the abdomen | - contains the ductus (vas) deferens, as well as the testicular artery and pampiniform plexus of veins
33
testicular artery and pampiniform plexus of veins
these are contained within the spermatic cord
34
testes
oval-shaped organs located in the scrotum, just behind the penis and right in front of the anus on male humans
35
Epididymis
tightly-coiled tube connecting rear of the testicles to the ductus deferns -sits kinda on top of the testis
36
Ductus deferens
contained within the spermatic cord - carries sperm from the epididymis in the testes to the ejaculatory duct - turns into the ampula - they enter the body and go up over the bladder and thats where they enter
37
ampula
this is when the ductus deferins get larger | -this is near the bladder and before they merge into the ejaculatory duct
38
prostate gland
this is inferior to the bladder | -the urethra runs through it
39
penis
the erectile organ
40
glans
this is the tip of the penis on the head of it
41
External urethral orifice
this is located at the tip of the penis, it is the opening
42
Corpus cavernosum
- this is erectile tisse - there are two of these that are on the sides of the superior part of the penis - this is the lighter tissue
43
Corpus spongiosum
- this is the tissue on the inferior side of the penis - the spongy urethra runs through it - this is the darker tissue
