What is peak flow ?
Its the speed in which a person can expel air from their lungs , used to assess the health of a persons lungs .
What is it measured in and what can asses it ?
It is measured in litres per minute , peak flow metres help people to monitor their lung health , health professionals can adviser medication or exercise .
How can be interpret PEF readings ?
It can vary as different people have different lung capacities , professionals can publish charts to show their expected flow of rate depending on a persons height , weight or age .
Lower then expected PEF readings indicate lung problems such as what ?
asthma , emphysema , chronic bronchitis , cystic fibrosis , lung cancer .
