Media: diverse range of technology to allow mass communication. To make it easier for poeple to gather information about local, international sports.

What is sponsorship ?
An individual or group that provides financial/other support on an established activity for commercial gain.

-historical prejudices of boys being more competitive and women as weak, excludes them from sports.
-women sports receive less media coverage. Has lower level prize money and less time to dedicate to sport. Meaning less female role models to look up to
How does ethnicity affects sports participation?
- poeple more likely to play popular sports in their culture.
-grass root participation is declining. Ethnic minor performers drops below national avarage
-less coaches from ethnic minority backgrounds
-religious rules: dress codes, weeks of fasting, causing lower energy levels
How does age affect sports participation?
Young people have more leisure time
-older: less disposable income, less money and time.
-OLD: negatively effects increase injury risk, recovery time slows down. (Less strength)— more drawn to life sports.
How does disability affect sports participation?
- physical impairment affects sporting ability.
-more awareness mean more participation, more media attention, more funds. Easier to participate in
-fewer specialist facilities for disability
-transport is reliant on others. Provides discouragement to sport
How do friends affects sports participation?
-friends share common interest in sports. Social active life
-peer pressure. Peer groups in same status may discourage a sport. Influence your participation
How does family affect sports participation?
-family may determine how someone participates in physical activity and sports influence
-parents want children to have opportunity. Passing positive attitude. Encouraging them to take sporting interest.
-parent does not like sport, they are less likely to no about positive affect. Preventing them from sporting activity.
