When and individual has an increase in heart disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes.

Provide performer with unfair advantage
What does it mean to be obese?
Having high bodily fat content, when there is more calories consumed than energy expended(BMI over 30)

What can obesity cause?
Affect physical health(type 2 diabetes, heart attacks
Affect mental health( suffer from depression) decrease self esteem and increase anxiety)
Poor social health:( Barriers may find it difficult to make new relationships from a lack of confidence)

-endomorph
What is an ectomorph? [SPORT EXP]
They have long limbs, low body fat and narrow shoulder, hips. (Narrow light frame)
Suitable for endurance events
What is an endomorph? {SPORT EXP}
Gathers weight around the arms, thighs and stomach. Has large percentage of fat.
Have wife hips and narrow shoulders provides more weight and power.

Has wide shoulders and narrow hips. Involved in strength, agility and speed sports. Muscular appearance

Bodily systems working well. Where heart and lungs are functioning properly .
-stronger musculoskeletal /cardio respiratory system are stronger
-reduces risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease (less obesity)
What is mental health?
State of well being where they have reduced stress and can realise their own potential
- benefits will be reduced anxiety levels, reducing stress, further reducing illness and injury
-good mindset(release serotonin to body)
What is social health?
How socially active a person is once basic needs have been met
-reduce stress
-better relationship
-improved cooperation
-boost social health
What are calories? (Kcal)
unit of measurement for heat or energy production in body
Avarage male intakes 2500 calories a day
Older poeples require less calories as metabolism begins to slow down and muscle is replaced by fat
Taller poeples/ physically active poeple require more calories as there is more bone and muscles in body
What is hydration ?
Replenishing loss water (via exercise)
A average water intake is 2litres
What is dehydration?
Excessive loss of water form body that interrupts normal functions of body.
Can cause thickening of blood and increase heart rate. Creating slower reactions, poor decision making and muscle fatigue
What are the 5 components that make a balanced diet?

-vitamins

What are carbohydrates?
Used for any intensity exercise
Complex: starch and slow burning foods(potato, pasta)
Simple: broken down quickly, contain surgery food(cakes, sweets) . Provide quick release of energy.
What are fats?
A secondary energy source for low intensity exercise
-two types
_saturated fat: cheese, cake, red meat
_unsaturated fat: oily fish, nuts, avocado
Saturated fat can damage individual
What are proteins?
Found In meat and eggs
Helps muscle growth and repair(means more training sessions)
What are vitamins?
An organic compound needed for good health
-vitamin C(support immune system, fruit)
-Vitamin A( boost natural resistant a to illness, milk)

Calcium(milk)
Iron (dark green vegatblea, meat)
Help the blood(maintain healthy body)
