Anaerobic And Aerobic Exercise Flashcards
What is a anerobic exercise?
Energy created in absence of oxygen.
GLUCOSE=ENERGY +LACTIC ACID
F1: use glucose for energy (is limited)
F2: high intense, short burst sports
Exp:100M sprint
What is aerobic exercise?
Energy created from inhaled air
GLUCOSE + OXYGEN = ENERGY + CO2 + WATER
-low to moderate level of exercise
-sustained longer
Exp: marathon
What is EPOC
Excess post-exercise energy consumption is the body in taking extra oxygen to help recovery from anaerobic exercise
{TAKES PLACE when Lactic Acid Produced, to break it down, to prevent fatigue)
What are the methods of recovery?(4!!!)
-Cool Down: elevates breathing rate via reducing intensity to bring heart rate back to normal. EXP light jog
-Stretching: static or dynamic. Increases blood flow
-Diet: rehydrate and eat carbohydrates to regain energy (glucose) eat protein (build muscle tissue)
-ICE Bath: flush out lactic acid via constricting blood vessels. This allows the oxygenated blood to flow through the muscles once they leave the ice bath. [prevent delayed onset muscle soreness]
