Path 7 Breast Cancer Flashcards
Genetic breast cancer disease
Li-Fraumeni syndrome
-p53 allele mutation
Intraductal carcinoma
Cribriform pattern in ducts
- Hyperplasia is more disorganized
- Papillae have no fibrovascular core
- Comedonecrosis
Lobular carcinoma in situ
Well defined cytoplasmic borders
-Monotonous sheets v cribriform
Paget’s disease
From intraductal carcinoma
-CEA stain
Invasive ductal carcinoma (70%) Tx
E-R (nuclear) - Tamoxifen
HER2/NEU (membrane) - Herceptin
Medullary carcinoma
Subtype of infiltrating ductal carcinoma
- Marked lymphocytic infiltrate
- Better prognosis
Colloid (Mucinous) Carcinoma
Tumor cells in lake of basophilic mucin
-Better prognosis
Tubular carcinoma
Looks sort of normal
-No myoepithelial layers (must stain)
Infiltrating lobular carcinoma (5%)
Non palpable
- Indian file cells
- Bull’s eye pattern
Poor prognostic indicator
c-erbB2 protooncogene amplification
Gynecomastia histo
Randomly dispersed acini
