Wilm’s tumor (nephroblastoma)
Most common renal of early childhood (age 2-4)
Wilm’s tumor contains
Contains embryonic glomerular structure
Wilm’s tumor presentation
Presents with huge, palpable flank mass and/or hematuria
Wilm’s tumor mutation
WT1 on chromosome 11
Wilm’s tumor syndrome
May be part of Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome or
WAGR complex: Wilm’s tumor, aniridia, GU malformation, and mental retardation.
Transitional cell carcinoma
Most coomon tumor of UT system;
can occur in renal calyces, renal pelvis, ureter, and baldder
Transitional cell carcinoma presentation
painless hematuria (no cast)
Transitional cell carcinoma association
Associated with problems in your Pee SAC:
Phenacetin,
smoking,
aniline dyes, and
cyclophosphamide
