1. Elective orthopedic surgery should be postponed if the pt has current infection
2. Make sure proper aseptic technique is observed during surgery
3. Prophylactic antibiotics is given to achieve adequate tissue level at the time of surgery
4. Urinary contraptions and drains are removed as soon as possible
5. Aseptic pos-op wound care
6. Prompt management of soft tissue infection
