Treatment is based on cause

1. Rest splints to prevent hyperextension and prolonged flexion of the wrist, avoidance of repetitive flexion of the wrist (use of ergonomic changes at work to reduce wrist pain)
2. NSAIDs, and carpal canal cortisone injections
3. Specific yoga postures, relaxation, and acupuncture
4. Traditional or endoscopic laser surgical release of the transverse carpal ligament
5. Patient wears a hand splint after the surgery and limits hand use during healing
6. The pt may need assistance with personal care and ADLs
7. Full recovery of motor and sensory function after nerve release surgery may take several weeks or months
