Q

What is it?

A

Maintaining water levels in the body
-balance of salt and water concentrations in the body to keep constant osmotic pressure through the use of osmoreceptors and the endocrine system
-its a physiological process.

Q

ADH (Antidiuretic hormone)

A

-released from the pituitary gland on response from osmoreceptors within the hypothalamus.
-increases permeability of the walls of the collecting ducts which causes more water to be reabsorbed by the kidneys via osmosis

Q

Too little water in blood (hypotonic)

A

1.Hypothalamus- detects water levels
2.Pituitary gland- releases ADH
3.More water reabsorbed by kidneys
4.Less water lost in urine
5.Blood water levels returns to normal
