What is the Autonomic Nervous system
A
Consists of parasympathetic and sympathetic divisions and is regulated by the hypothalamus , constantly controlling organ functions depending on the information given/received from internal and external environment

Sympathetic - ‘fight or flight’
A
-prepare the body for physical activity
-inhibits all ‘normal’ body functions to focus energy for essential functions
-neurotransmitters used is noradrenaline (NA)

Parasympathetic - ‘ rest and digest’
A
- restores ‘normal’ body functions
-neurotransmitters is acetylcholine (ACH)
