-filters the blood

Excretory system in mammals
-Consists of kidneys, ureter, bladder, sphincter and urethra.
-have nephrons next to the collecting duct in the kidney-consists of renal corpsule where first filtration of the blood takes place.
Excretory system in birds
-dont have a urinary bladder
-carry urine from the kidneys to the cloaca
Nitrogenous waste removal
-removes nitrogenous waste products such as ammonia,salt and water
-they come from the breakdown of proteins
NWR- Birds
-remove ammonia in the form of uric acid
-does not require water and is an insoluble substance
NWR- Mammals
-remove ammonia in the form of urea
-requires water to allow it to be secreted as urine
