pathophysiology
A
stress from running/jumping etc at same time as epiphyseal plate growth causes inflammation
multiple small avulsion fractures –> tender bump that then turns hard and nontender

symptoms
A
gradual onset
visible/palpable hard and tender lump tibial tuberosity
anterior knee pain
pain exacerbated by physical activity, kneeling and extension
