Neuroimaging Flashcards
1
Q
What are indications for aural radiography?
A
- chronic otitis
- peripheral vestibular syndrome
- facial nerve paralysis
- Horner’s syndrome
= Middle ear disease - But CT superior
2
Q
What is seen with discospondylitis?
A
- Infection of intervertebral disc + osteomyelitis of adjacent endplates
- Ventral soft tissue swelling
3
Q
What are advantages of CT?
A
- No superimposition + excellent bone detail
- Useful for fractures of the skull + Otitis media
4
Q
What are advantages of MRI?
A
- Excellent Soft tissue resolution
5
Q
How do you differentiate between degenerative disease and discospondylitis?
A
- Degenerative disease =
-sclerosis
-new bone
-SMOOTH endplates - Discospondylitis =
-sclerosis
-new bone
-soft tissue swelling
-IRREGULAR endplates
