- Variable onset, often very young age

- Usually, a herald patch (from rodent bite)

What test would rule out what with skin issues?
A
- Coat brushings and wet paper test = flea infestation
- Acetate tape test +/- superficial skin scrape = demodex gatoi
- Indirect/direct impression smear cytology from exudative area = bacterial infection
- Hair plucks + culture = dermatophytosis
- Ectoparasite eradication trial = flea bite hypersensitivity + D. gatoi
- Elimination diet = food induced FASS

Whats the problem with cyclosporin?
A
- If acute problem = takes 4-8weeks to see effect = too slow

If owner struggles to give prednisolone, what should be done?
A
- Consider dexamethasone = more potent = need to give less often

- Allergic skin disease - CAD
- Parasites - flea, trombiculiasis, sarcoptic mange, demodicosis, chelytiellosis
- Microbial infection - malassezia / bacterial overgrowth
- Other = epitheliotropic lymphoma + pemphigus foliaceus

A
- Age at onset <3yrs
- Mostly indoor
- Alesional pruritus at onset
- Affected front feet
- Affected ear pinnae
- Non-affected ear margins
- Non-affected dorso-lumbar area

A
- Iatrogenic HAC
- Naturally occurring HAC
- Metabolic disease e.g. diabetes mellitus
- Urinary tract infection
- Other endocrinopathy e.g. hypothyroidism
- Other internal disease e.g. CKD
