Afferent pathway is the same for vision
Efferent (motor) pathway begins at motor cortex, travels down pons, synapse with pontine nucleus. Travels to cerebellum to facial nucleus, facial nerve VII = eye blink
Pupillary light reflex
Pretectal nucleus
Parasympathetic nucleus of CN III
Pre chiasm lesion
Both pupils constrict when light shined in one eye
Both pupils dilate when light is shone in opposite eye
Horner syndrome
Miosis

Can check by changing lights in room

Dazzle reflex
Shine light in eye - involuntary aversion response
Not assessing vision
Fundic exam
Performed during neuro exam
Visualize optic nerve, extension of brain (not a real nerve)
