- Reactive lymphadenopathy
- Lymphoma
- Thyroid swelling
- Thyroglossal cyst
- Pharyngeal poiuch
- Brachial cyst
- Carotid aneurysm
What are the features of reactive lymphadenopathy?
- Very common
- Hx of local infection or viral illness
- Tender
What are the features of a lymphoma?
- Rubbery + Painless lymphadenopathy
- Night Sweats + B symptoms
- Splenomegaly
What are the features of thyroid swelling?
- Hypo / Hyper / Eu Thyroid Symptoms

What is a thyroglossal cyst?
mass that develops from tissues that remain after the formation of the thyroid gland during embryonic development
What are the features of a thyroglossal cyst?
- <20 yo
- Midline
- Moves upwards on protrusion of tongue
- Painful if infected
What is a Pharyngeal pouch?
When part of the pharyngeal lining herniates through the muscle of the pharyngeal wall
What are the features of a pharyngeal pouch?
- Older men
- Usually not seen but if large then midline mass
- Gurgles on palpation
- Dysphagia, regurgitation, aspiration, chronic cough
What are a brachial cyst?
embryonic remnant
What are the features of a brachial cyst?
- Oval, mobile, cystic mass
- Between sternocleidomastoid and pharynx
- Present in early adulthood
What are the features of a carotid aneurysm?
- Pulsatile
- Lateral Neck mass
- Doesn’t move on swallowing
