A
Reversed the effects of narcotic analgesics

What are the 3 uses for naloxone?
A
- Coma
- Drug OD and poisoning
- Significant ALOC where hypoventilation and or loss of protective reflexes where OD cannot be positively excluded

What are the 3 adverse effects of narcan?
A
- Nausea and vomiting
- Acute withdrawal syndrome in narcotic addicts
- Aggressive behaviour following reversal

What is the adult dose of narcan?
A
800mcg IM, repeat 800mcg if required

What is the paed dose of naloxone?
A
10mcg/kg: repeat after 2-5 mins if no effect.
Max dose is 3 x paed calculated doses
