What are the uses for GTN
- Relieve cardiac pain of ischaemic origin
- Pulmonary oedema
- Autonomic dysreflexia
What are the 4 adverse effects of GTN?
- Hypotension
- Headache
- Flushing of skin
- Occasionally -reflex bradycardia or tachycardia
What are the 6 contraindications of GTN?
- BP < 90
- HR < 50
- Viagra or Levitra within 24 hours
- Cialis in 4-5 days in elderly or 3-4 days in all other patients
- KSAR
- ^ ICP
What are the notes of admin on GTN?
- Pt should be sitting so bottle is upright
- Prior to each use prime spray
- Instruct pt to close mouth after admin and do not swallow or inhale
- Following each use alcho wipe. If significantly contaminated, discard
How soon should GTN Tablets be used?
3 months of opening bottle. Tablets should fizz if still potent
What is the dose for chest pain for both tablet and spray. Include max dose
Tablet- 1 tab may repeat once if necessary. Half tab (300mcg) if pt has never had GTN before or BP between 90-100mmHg
Spray- 1 x spray max 4 doses. 5 mins between dose

What is the max dose for GTN spray for autonomic dysreflexia?
3 doses
What is the adult and paed anginine tablet dose for autonomic dysreflexia?
1/2 tab (300mcg) adult
1/4 tab (150mcg) paed (12-16yrs)
