- Known sensitivity
- active cardiac disease
- < 1 year

A
200mcg IM repeat if required at 5 mins 200mcg max dose 400mcg

What are the 5 actions of ketamine ?
A
- Analgesic, sedative agent
- Marked amnesia
- Has bronchodilating properties
- Does not tend to cause respiratory depression
- Does not tend to cause hypotension

What are the 6 adverse effects of ketamine?
A
- Transient laryngospasm
- Hypersalivation
- Emergence reactions
- Muscle twitching and purposeless movements
- Occasionally hypotension if given too quickly to the hypovolaemic patient
- Occasionally respiratory depression- apnoea
