What is the action of glucagon?
A
Glucagon causes the liver to metabolise stores of glycogen to glucose; resulting in a rise of blood glucose
It is only effective if lifer glycogen is available

A
Treatment of hypoglycaemia BGL <4 when oral or IV glucose cannot be administered

What are the adverse effects of glucagon?
A
- Nausea and vomiting

What is the special note for glucagon, glucose 10% and oral glucose?

- Pts who respond to treatment should eat to prevent further hypoglycaemia
